Coachella, Riverside County
The famous music festival that shares its name is actually held a few miles away in Indio. The city of Coachella is the easternmost in the valley, a largely Latino community whose downtown walls carry large murals honoring farm workers. It lies about 70 feet below sea level, near the northern end of the basin that holds the Salton Sea.
